CS14-I01 Studio Richter Mahr

Studio Richter Mahr is a multidisciplinary creative hub and retreat in the Oxfordshire countryside, founded by composer Max Richter and visual artist Yulia Mahr. Designed to support focused creative work for musicians, visual artists and filmmakers, the studio was planned by Charlie Luxton Design, led by Charlie Luxton with James Renfrew as project architect, in collaboration with construction firm Midland. Warrington + Rose was commissioned to design and fabricate a large cast-concrete island for the café, which forms the social heart of the retreat. Its material weight and restrained geometry reflect the wider architectural language, providing a calm and durable focal point for daily activity.
